Over the past several years, Software as a Service (SaaS) continues to have a big impact in the CRM marketplace.  Salesforce.com has expanded its offerings with Force.com, NetSuite had a successful public offering, and Microsoft released its SaaS product, "Live".

There are many factors involved in this significant shift from the traditional software purchase and implementation to the On-Demand offerings.  For the larger enterprise user, there may be implementation fatigue from the long, drawn-out and expensive projects from the late 1990's and early 2000's.  For the small and mid-market business, the elimination of the traditional software purchase and the need for less internal resources and infrastructure is very attractive.

Today, initial roadblocks for even considering on-demand solutions have mostly been removed and previous uneasiness has been replaced with general acceptance and a better understanding of the considerable advantages SaaS delivers.
