It seems like yesterday that we were in the midst of an economic crisis. Harvest Solutions went into business in September 2001. We dealt with the shock and aftermath of 9/11 and the "dot com" meltdown. In addition, we had to adjust to the "Siebel Affect" felt throughout the marketplace. Companies were dealing with the fatigue of the money and resources spent on a Siebel implementation. This made the marketplace very weary of investing in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system in a down economy. We had to make some drastic and difficult business decisions along the way in order for our firm to survive.
Seven short years later, we find ourselves in a deeper and more profound economic crisis compared to 2001-2003. This economic situation seems to be much more widespread across industries and geographic regions. We are in the midst of a worldwide recession.
There are a couple of significant differences that we see in our business in these two different economic recessions, some of them promising and some of them very concerning.
